London Police interacting with march public via Twitter and Internet TV Live Feed.

London Police with innovations in social media.

The Metropolitan Police Service in London is today launching two new social media tools during the London march and rally for the national day of industrial action.

This feed is an officer’s personal perspective on the job they are doing. It will be used by officers policing events, carrying out operations and other day to day activities. It will be one officer for that given day and will be used on an occasional basis. The officer using this feed will engage in conversations via Twitter where possible.

The first officer to be the ‘Tweeting officer on the street’ will be part of the policing operation for the march. He will send a series of Tweets during the day.

London Police are also utilising a Bambuser live feed channel. This facility gives Police  the ability to stream live pictures on to an internet TV channel. During today’s operation live updates from Police´s spokesman (f.e. a Police Commander) will be streamed onto the internet via Bambuser at www.bambuser.com/channel/metpoliceuk

Before a broadcast a Tweet will go out letting the public know the broadcast is starting. The piece will also be archived on Bambuser so it can be viewed later. READ MORE HERE
