The Mayor of the city of Haarlem , Mr Bernt Schneiders wrote a open letter where he dennounced that the punishment of a small group of predominantly young Moroccan offenders had little effect. This reaction of Mayor Schneiders was originated  in response to two shocking violence in his city. Last Friday, a 20-year-old woman on the street was beaten by six Moroccan men. The next Sunday, two elderly ladies of 88 and 90 years in Schalkwijk were also attacked by two Moroccan perpetrators. There is no one held in both cases.

,, Our police officers do their utmost to  make Haarlem more safe and keep ” writes Mayor Schneiders in his open letter to all of Haarlem who are concerned about the violence. he said “if the police pick up criminals and petty criminals, they are transferred to the prosecutor, after that the prosecutor demands a punishment and the court condemns. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of sanctions is not very high. because after a little punishment the criminals repeat the same behavior.

What the mayor is concerned, he said there is only one solution for them. ,, A small minority is incorrigible and for them only prolonged confinement is the right way.
